Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes (Printable Version)

# Ingredients Required:

→ Potatoes

01 - 900 g Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

→ Dairy

02 - 480 ml heavy cream
03 - 200 g sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
04 - 57 g unsalted butter

→ Vegetables & Aromatics

05 - 1 medium onion, finely chopped
06 - 3 cloves garlic, minced

→ Seasonings

07 - 5 ml salt, adjust to taste
08 - 2.5 ml black pepper, adjust to taste
09 - 5 ml paprika (smoked paprika optional)

# Guide to Cooking:

01 - Preheat the oven to 190°C.
02 - Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and sauté chopped onion until soft. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
03 - In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and paprika until combined.
04 - Grease a baking dish. Layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly over the base. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then scatter half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
05 - Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until bubbly.
06 - Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden brown.
07 - Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving to ensure firm texture.
