Open-Faced Pizza Burgers (Printable Version)

# What You'll Need:

→ Produce

01 - 1 small yellow onion, diced

→ Bakery

02 - 4 English muffins, split in half

→ Oil

03 - 1 tablespoon olive oil

→ Meat

04 - 1 pound lean ground beef

→ Spices and Seasonings

05 - 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
06 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
07 - 1 teaspoon kosher salt
08 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

→ Sauces and Cheese

09 - 1 cup pizza or marinara sauce
10 - 1 cup shredded low-moisture mozzarella cheese

# How to Make It:

01 - Position a rack 15 cm below the broiler and preheat the oven to 175°C. Dice the small yellow onion.
02 - Split the English muffins in half and place them cut-side up on a rimmed baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes until lightly browned. Remove and set the oven to broil.
03 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add the diced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef and season with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until browned, slightly crisped, and fully cooked, about 5 to 7 minutes.
04 - Stir in the pizza or marinara sauce and cook until the sauce thickens slightly, approximately 3 minutes.
05 - Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the toasted English muffins. Top each with shredded mozzarella cheese. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Positioning the rack 15 cm from the broiler ensures even melting and browning of the cheese without burning.
