Italian Sausage Pepper Bake (Printable Version)

A comforting mix of Italian sausage, peppers, potatoes or pasta, marinara, and cheese baked to bubbly perfection.

# Ingredients Required:

01 - 680 g Italian sausage, sliced or crumbled

→ Vegetables

02 - 3 bell peppers (mixed colors), sliced
03 - 1 large onion, sliced
04 - 680 g baby potatoes, halved

→ Pasta (optional)

05 - 340 g cooked pasta

→ Sauces and Oils

06 - 480 ml marinara sauce
07 - 15 ml olive oil

→ Cheese

08 - 200 g shredded mozzarella
09 - 60 g grated parmesan

→ Seasonings

10 - 1 tsp dried oregano
11 - Salt to taste
12 - Black pepper to taste

→ Garnish

13 - Fresh parsley

# Guide to Cooking:

01 - Preheat the oven to 200°C. Toss halved baby potatoes with olive oil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Roast for 25 minutes until tender and slightly golden. Skip this step if using cooked pasta.
02 - In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
03 - Using the same skillet, sauté sliced bell peppers and onion until softened and slightly caramelized.
04 - In a 23×33 cm baking dish, layer the roasted potatoes or cooked pasta, browned sausage, and sautéed vegetables evenly.
05 - Pour marinara sauce evenly over the layered ingredients and gently toss to combine. Top with shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan.
06 - Cover the baking dish with foil and bake at 190°C for 25 minutes.
07 - Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
08 - Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.

01 - For a lighter variation, substitute pasta for potatoes. Ensure potatoes are fully roasted for optimal texture.
