# Guide to Cooking:

01 - Cook bacon in a large pot over medium heat until crispy, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside, retaining the bacon fat in the pot.
02 - Add finely chopped onion to the pot and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until softened. Incorporate sliced carrot and continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
03 - Stir in diced potatoes and chopped cabbage. Season with kosher salt and black pepper to taste. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes to slightly soften the vegetables.
04 - Pour in chicken stock and add the bay leaf. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes until potatoes and cabbage are tender.
05 - Return cooked bacon to the pot and stir to combine. Adjust seasoning as needed. Ladle the soup into bowls and garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve warm.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Using homemade chicken stock enhances the depth of flavor, but high-quality store-bought stock works well as a convenient alternative.
