Season chicken breasts evenly on both sides with salt and black pepper.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken breasts 5-6 minutes per side until golden and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.

Using the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

Reduce heat to medium. Add heavy cream, basil pesto, and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.

Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over it. Add cherry tomatoes if using, then simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to warm.
