Sweet savory green beans bacon (Printable Version)

Tender green beans tossed with a brown sugar glaze, soy sauce, and crispy bacon for a sweet-savory side.

# Ingredients Required:

→ Vegetables

01 - 454 g fresh green beans
02 - 2 cloves garlic, minced

→ Meat

03 - 6 slices thick-cut bacon, chopped

→ Sauces and Sweeteners

04 - 60 g brown sugar
05 - 60 ml soy sauce

→ Dairy

06 - 57 g unsalted butter

# Guide to Cooking:

01 - Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and transfer to an ice bath to halt cooking.
02 - In a skillet over medium heat, cook chopped bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon to a paper towel-lined plate and reserve 1 to 2 tablespoons of bacon fat in the skillet.
03 - Add unsalted butter to the reserved bacon fat and melt over medium heat. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Whisk in brown sugar and soy sauce until smooth and sugar dissolves.
04 - Place blanched green beans in a baking dish. Pour the glaze evenly over the beans, add crispy bacon, and toss to coat thoroughly.
05 - Cover the dish with foil and bake at 175°C for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes to thicken the glaze.
06 - Remove from oven and serve hot.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - For a spicier variation, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the glaze.
02 - Maintain green beans crisp-tender to avoid mushiness.
03 - Adjust brown sugar quantity to modify sweetness.
