Brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat in a skillet. Drain excess fat. Add diced tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper, then simmer for 15 minutes.

In a bowl, blend ricotta cheese with half of the grated Parmesan cheese until smooth.

Layer the baking dish starting with a portion of meat sauce, followed by noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat the layering ending with mozzarella on top.

Cover the assembled dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
