Chocolate Chip Scones (Printable Version)

Tender scones with rich chocolate chips and butter, baked to golden perfection with a touch of vanilla.

# Ingredients Required:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 240 grams all-purpose flour
02 - 50 grams granulated sugar

→ Fat

03 - 110 grams unsalted butter, cold

→ Add-ins

04 - 120 grams semisweet chocolate chips

→ Liquids

05 - 180 milliliters buttermilk
06 - 5 milliliters pure vanilla extract

# Guide to Cooking:

01 - In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and granulated sugar until evenly distributed.
02 - Cut the cold unsalted butter into the dry mixture using a pastry cutter or fingers until the texture resembles coarse crumbs. Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips.
03 - Pour the buttermilk and vanilla extract into the mixture and stir just until combined. Avoid overmixing to maintain tenderness. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, pat into a 20 cm round about 3 cm thick, and cut into 8 wedges.
04 - Place the wedges onto a parchment-lined baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 15 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Use very cold butter to create flaky layers and prevent overworking the dough to keep scones tender.
