Cheese and Onion Rolls (Printable Version)

Puff pastry filled with sharp cheddar cheese and sautéed sweet onions, baked golden brown.

# Ingredients Required:

→ Pastry

01 - Puff pastry sheets

→ Filling

02 - 2 medium sweet onions, finely chopped
03 - 113 grams sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
04 - 30 grams unsalted butter
05 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ Finishing

06 - 1 egg, beaten (for wash)

# Guide to Cooking:

01 - Sauté finely chopped onions in unsalted butter over medium heat until soft, approximately 5 minutes.
02 - Add shredded sharp cheddar cheese to the softened onions; cook while stirring until melted and fully combined.
03 - Roll out puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut into 10×10 cm squares.
04 - Place one tablespoon of the cheesy onion mixture onto each pastry square. Fold diagonally and press edges firmly to seal.
05 - Brush each sealed pastry with beaten egg to promote a golden finish.
06 - Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 20 to 25 minutes until the rolls are golden brown.
