In a small saucepan, combine granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Stir continuously over medium heat until the sugar has fully dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.

In a large pitcher, add the fresh lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, blue raspberry syrup, and the remaining 4 cups of cold water. Stir thoroughly until well blended.

Incorporate blue food coloring, if using, blending in small increments until the desired blue shade is reached.

Taste the mixture and adjust by adding extra sugar or water to reach preferred sweetness and tanginess.

Transfer the pitcher to the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes.
