Crunchy Caramel Salt Bars (Printable Version)

# What You'll Need:

→ Caramel Sauce

01 - 1 cup white sugar
02 - 6 tablespoons cold butter, chopped up
03 - 1/2 cup whipping cream
04 - 1 teaspoon pure vanilla
05 - 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (grab extra for sprinkling)

→ Rice Krispie Base

06 - 6 tablespoons cold butter
07 - 16 ounces tiny marshmallows (roughly 10 cups)
08 - 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla
09 - 8 cups crispy rice cereal
10 - Flaky sea salt to finish

# How to Make It:

01 - Put parchment in a 9x13 baking tray with extra hanging over the edges so you can lift it out later. Give it a quick spray with cooking oil.
02 - Put sugar in a medium pot over medium flame and keep stirring with a wooden spoon. It'll clump up then turn into an amber liquid. Once it's all melted, quickly drop in the butter. Watch out for bubbling. Keep stirring until butter melts completely, about 2-3 minutes.
03 - Pour in cream super slowly while stirring. It'll bubble up again. Let it bubble away for 1 minute. Take it off the heat and mix in vanilla and salt. Save 1/3 cup for the top.
04 - Melt butter in a big pot on low heat. Throw in marshmallows and stir until they're nearly melted. Pour in the main batch of caramel (not your saved portion) and vanilla, mixing till smooth.
05 - Turn off heat and quickly dump in all the Rice Krispies. Stir everything until all cereal gets coated with the sticky mixture.
06 - Dump the mixture into your ready tray. Take a piece of parchment with a tiny bit of cooking spray and lightly flatten the mixture across the tray. Don't push too hard or they'll get tough.
07 - If your saved caramel got hard, warm it up a little. Pour it all over your treats. Scatter some flaky salt on top.
08 - Let everything cool off for about an hour. Grab the parchment edges to pull the whole thing out. Cut into squares and dig in.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Want super sticky treats? Just toss in another cup of tiny marshmallows.
02 - Watch your fingers with the caramel mix. That sugar gets crazy hot and can really hurt.
03 - If you want them less sweet, drop down to 14 ounces of marshmallows.
